Investment in Share Market

What is the best way to achieve financial freedom? Should you leave your money tucked away in the bank or plough it into the stock market where the potential for strong returns is greater but the chances of losing money is higher? Most people prefer stock market and why not? But do we know how shares reward an investor?

IPO - Rimbunan Sawit (By 14 June 2006)

Rimbunan Sawit IPO involves a public issue of 18 million new 50 sen shares at RM1 per share. Seven million of the said shares would be offered to the public. The company would use the bulk of it or RM15.5 million for working capital requirements (E.g. financing plantation expenditure, general upgrading and maintenance of plant and machinery as well as up keeping and maintenance of staff quarters, canteens and offices).

Rimbunan Sawit is part of the Rimbunan Hijau Group, a diversified multi-conglomerate led by Tan Sri Tiong Hiew King (Main share holder of Sin Chew Jit Poh, Sarawak Tycoon).

Rimbunan Sawit has relatively young oil palm tress, of which 80% of the total planted trees were less than 12 years old and have good potential to produce higher oil palm yield in the coming years. The mill also recorded crude palm oil (CPO) extraction rate of 22% for the past three years.

Tiong said Rimbunan Sawit has another 18.6% of the total plantable land that have yet to be developed. This provides an opportunity to expand plantation and achieve a reasonable growth in total FFB production in the next few years.

I heard that
Rimbunan Sawit also intend to apply for Bio-Diesel Research permit in near future. The plantation stock should be a stable investment during economy downturn. Anyone have any info for this IPO? I am quite interested.

Yup. Downloaded the prospectus. And in fact, i have applied for it. To be frank, this is actually my first time applying IPO. Yup, me is a virgin. Dang. (My mum was the one who used my name to apply previously).

Didn't know that Maybank is so damn bloody convenient. I applied thru maybank2u. Took me less than 1 minute to apply. CHeers man.

Went thru bits on the prospectus. Just giving it a shot. Have a feeling that plantation companies wil perform well especially when the government is boosting up agriculture. So, Rimbunan Sawit would be a good buy (i think).

Btw, microlink is also offering IPO (MESDAQ) last few days. An IT company offering software solutions. Downloaded the prospectus but havetn really gone thru it. It said that they are focusing on Islamic banking software solutions. Wat do u think? Any IT guy who can give his fair opinion? Ho Sang perhaps?
I personally feel that Islamic banking product will be a good buy, but seeing that this is a MESDAQ company, i have some reservation coz i am not so familiar with this field.

I haven't read Microlink IPO yet. I notice that there are not much market left for local software solution company.

Most of the Global Software Solution Companies has been focusing on SME now in order to venture into China Market. As a result, they come out with more affordable and stable packages. For example, SAP has launch their SME product and our local ERP companies have no place to survive. They will probably need to explore into new market and solutions.

I do not see any special product from Microlink that can compete for Globalization Market unless they have something to do with politician and aim for speculators.

However, Mesdaq is a good place for earning fast money for short term. Daniel will have more comments on Mesdaq IPO..haha.

Microlink IPO has already closed. Dang. I tot it was end of this week. Guess i have missed the chance. Sigh.

I have a feeling that anything with Islammic banking will be a good buy. Reason is that Islamic bacnking will be an emerging industry as it is begining to be reognised worldwide.
